Trauma Work

Our bodies hold so much. This is a caring way to support ourselves as bodies to metabolise past harms and the life sapping belief systems and patterns that can come from them.

“Trauma decontextualized in a person looks like personality.
Trauma decontextualized in a family looks like family traits.
Trauma in a people looks like culture.”

How I Work

I offer a combination of Processwork,  EFT tapping, and embodied work or ‘Somatics’ based in the work of Peter Levine. I pay attention to pace, resourcing, and your inner feeling and relational dynamics. I hold space for integration body, mind, and spirit. I believe transforming patterns of trauma needs to be imbedded in the way we work together.

I love the idea of ‘moving at the speed of trust’ which I learned from adrienne maree brown. I offer the invitation to notice what is happening in the moment and to go at your own pace. I believe that these can be doorways into new patterns within ourselves. I believe in honouring, tending to, and nourishing our relationship to our own knowings and that this is often the core of what is imacted by trauma.

I do this work with a lens that acknowledges the individualisation of harm is a from of harm. I will not tell you that harm you have experienced is okay or a needed teacher, that is for you to decide. I believe that holding power and structures of harm to account is an essential part of healing work whether that is sexism, racism, ableism, heteronormativity, classism or any of the other belief systems which collectively traumatise us and fall most heavily on certain bodies.
